Mélange

Mélange (2024) is a portraiture series that honors fashion expressions of the BIPOC community.
These paintings are a continuation of my previous series, txt.ture, which celebrates various skin conditions of youth.

The figures in Mélange are inspired by the people in my life; the fashion, personalities
and the faces that surrounded me when I was raised in West Harlem, NY.

The word “mélange” is a mixture of fabrics weaved into one thread; I aim to depict the same lively
and warm personalities in these figures that were woven into my heart so colorfully.
